Reverend James Matthews Hoover (1872 – 1935)

came from Pennsylvania State of the U.S.A. had been working as a Christian missionary in Penang before coming to the Sibu Foochow
Settlement in 1903. When the Sibu Foochow Settlement suffered severe set-backs,
many settlers left to work elsewhere leaving less than 700 of them in the
settlement. Rev. James Hoover not only helped them solve many of their problems
but also introduced machines and production techniques from the West which
stabilised the work of the Settlement and facilitated its rapid development.(Don’t care anyway).

Please do not call it “Iban Alphabet”. Call it “Dunging Alphabet” because it was created by him and nothing has to do with the history of Iban. It was only his claim without any proof.

Very interesting…….ooops one more thing……..can anybody find out what is the relation of AKAI(Japanese Electronic giant) and Ibanez(World’s most reknown guitar brand) with Iban? I have heard something about it, but not sure whether its true or not.

Hmmm…too much alphabets to memorize. Thai has abt 30 alphabets and that’s enough to peningkan kepala with the worm-style of writing hhahaha.
