KAPIT: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo said he favoured Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s leadership style because it had brought about enormous benefits for the people.
In addition, the prime minister had also made his administration more effective by empowering elected representatives to serve the people better, he said.
“Empowering elected representatives is very important. This is because all federal government development projects and programmes are implemented through the respective MPs.
“That is why they (MPs) are always present at government functions and gatherings,” he said at a ‘Ngiling Bidai’ ceremony at Bajok Laja’s residence in Kampung Kemarau here recently. The gathering was to mark the closing of the Gawai Dayak celebration.
On the gathering, Abit commended Kapit Musical and Cultural Club for organising the event which had not only enabled both the young and old to come together for merry making but also to help preserve their tradition.
The occasion was enlivened by entertainment from club members, a karaoke session and and ‘ngajat’ performances. Among the 150 guests present were Kapit police chief DSP Entusa Imam, Kapit SAO Joseph Ikan, Kapit Musical and Cultural Club chairman Dixon Naga Enggil.
