KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has set a modest target of winning three gold medals from swimming events at the Pahang Sukma.

Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Peter Pang En Yin said though Sabah are known as a powerhouse in the sport, the modest target was because Sabah would be sending only young swimmers aged between 13 and 20, who would be competing in the games for the first time.

“The government had sent athletes from five sports to China, including swimmers, as part of preparations for the Sukma,” he said.

In the last Sukma, Sabah won 22 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze medals, including eight from swimming.
