SIBU: A host of exciting events will be held on the Malay/Melanau stage at the forthcoming Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF), July 6-15, at the Sibu Town Square.
Coordinator of the Malay/Melanau programmes, Awang Ali Bahar, said stage entertainment would be presented by Kaswari Cultural & Arts Group on July 6; Sibu Arts Academy on July 7 and Sibu Melanau Association on July 8.
“The official launching ceremony for the BCF Malay Melanau Stage 2012 will be held on July 8 evening with Nangka assemblyman Dr Annuar Rapaee officiating,” he told a press conference recently.
Sibu Melanau Association president Drahman Jabar and vice- president Dayang Rohayah Awang Yahod were with him at the press conference. Sibu Arts Academy will have the stage again on July 9-10 while the 9th Brigade RASCOM Camp at Mile 10 Oya Road will have its turn on July 11.
Others to present programmes are Sri Swangsa on July 12 and Gerenek Melayu Group on July 13-15.
Awang said Saberkas Nangka branch would present the Muslim costumes fashion show, while 1Malaysia Nangka Community would stage the traditional ‘bertandak’ dance, and Nangka, Bandong and Abang Barieng Neighbourhood Unit would hold the ‘Senam Tari’.
