KUCHING: The Sarawak Furniture Home Expo (SFHE) 2012 is back with more luxurious and modern furniture.

To be held from July 5 to 8, the expo will be the biggest ever as there are 40 furniture manufacturers from Peninsular Malaysia and more than 150 booths will be set up during the four-day expo.

The exhibition is organised annually by the Sarawak Furniture Industry Association (SFIA) and sponsored by Sarawal Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).

It will be showcasing a variety of home furniture and other related products including fabric (curtain, carpet), home decoration items, dishes, office furniture and kitchen utensils.

According to SFIA chairman Lai King Min, the expo will be held at Permata exhibition hall from 10am to 10pm.

“We decided to extend the opening hours from 9pm to 10pm because of the high demand and the big number of visitors last year. About 80 per cent of last year’s participating exhibitors are back this year. There is 25 per cent new participating exhibitors this time,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Lai also said to entertain the visitors, SFIA in collaboration with IDA Exhibitors Services (M) Sdn Bhd will have MY.FM radio DJ Miss Irene at the expo on July 7 from 12pm to 3pm to assist in holding games and shows for visitors.

“Lucky draw results will be announced every two hours. Visitors who spend a minimum of RM500 are entitled to an entry. The grand prize in the form of a 40-inch television set on top of various other attractive prizes are up for grabs. The announcement of the grand prize winner will be on the last day (July 8),” he said.

“There would also be VIP guests from KL namely MFEA president Lor Lean Sen and MFPC CEO Au Leck Chai,” Lai said.
