Maksak ladies futsal competition on July 7 and 8

SIBU: Sibu Maksak ladies sub-committee together with Ministry of Social Development will jointly organising ladies futsal competition on July 7 and 8 at the Bukit Lima Indoor Stadium with matches to kick from 8am onwards.

Sibu’s Maksak ladies chairperson, Aida Yasmin said the competition is divided into two categories namely ladies’ open and children’s under 12 years old.

At least 20 teams from throughout the state are expected to compete in the open category with teams from Mukah, Belawai, Daro, Miri and Bintulu had shown keen interest to compete in the event aimed to foster closer rapport and understanding among Maksak’s members.

“We hope to attract more teams and have also invited several government agencies, NGOs and even those from the private sector to join us in the fun-filled event,” she said of the event which is to be played on a group league basis and outstanding players will be selected to represent state Maksak futsal team.

“The teams will be divided into different groups and the top two teams will advance to the knockout stage,” she said of the event which offers RM700 for the champion, RM400 for the first runner-up and RM200 for the third placing.

As for the children’s under 12 category which will be held on the morning of July 8, eight primary schools were invited to take part.

The entry fee for the open category is RM150 and RM100 for secondary school students.

Sibu’s Razzchopper Big Bike Club will put up a motorbike show in front of the Bukit Lima Indoor Stadium during the opening ceremony and a lucky draw will also be held as part of the programme.

Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming is expected to officiate the opening ceremony on July 7 at 8am while Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King will grace the closing ceremony on July 8 at 4pm.
