MARUDI: Red House team emerged overall champion in SMK Telang Usan annual sport held at Marudi Mini Stadium recently.
Having collected 347 marks, the victorious Red House team beat the Blue House into second place while the Green House team finished third with 307.
Mohd Safiee Ramli became the toast of the Red House team after bagging the overall best boy athlete award while best girl athlete award went to Nur Shafigah Zainal.
The closing ceremony was graced by Marudi District Office, Rose Edward Tarang who represented Telang Usan state assemblyman, Dennis Ngau Jok.
Rose in her speech called on the students to participate actively in competitions which among others promote good sportsmanship and goodwill.
According to her, it is through sports that students acquire good exposure and inter personal skills by mixing with other participants while at the same time making their parents proud of their extra-curricular activities.
“If each student can achieve success in the sports and in academics, this will make their parents feel very proud too,” she said while encouraging students to be involved in uniformed bodies as well.
