Watch what you eat to stay healthy, says 90-year-old grandmother

KEMAMAN: Believe it or not, a 90-year-old grandmother’s secret to being fit and healthy is by eating only certain types of fish.
Siah Said from Kampung Yak Yah said she only ate ‘kembong’, ‘selar’ and ‘tenggiri’ fish and had never eaten any meat or poultry in her life.
“Since I was young, I only drink plain tea and the only fruit that I can eat is durian,” she told Bernama here.
The woman, who is now living alone after the death of her husband and four children, not only has good health, but can vividly remember every details of her childhood memories, which she likes to share with her seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Siah also has no problem preparing herself a proper meal or walking round the village or to the grocery store.
“Yes, many have asked me about my secret to being fit and healthy and my advice is just to watch what you eat because that will affect your health,” she told Bernama here.
Siah, who is also the recipient of Social Welfare Department’s monthly allowance of RM300, also expressed her appreciation to the state government, district and village authorities for always taking care of her wellbeing.
Recently, the villagers also organised a gotong royong to help clean the area around her house to prevent aedes breeding. — Bernama
