KUANTAN: Kuantan MCA will not hesitate to take legal action against Kuantan Member of Parliament Fuziah Saleh from PKR if she continues to slander its assemblymen over the Lynas issue.
Its chief Datuk Ti Lian Ker said Fuziah’s allegation appeared in the Free Malaysia Today (FMT) news portal yesterday that two MCA assemblymen went for a holiday in Australia sponsored by Lynas and upon their return, said that the Lynas plant was safe, which was a lie.
“Before this, she (Fuziah) claimed that we (MCA) paid no attention to the Lynas issue, whereas the Semambu assemblyman (Datuk Pang Tsu Ming) had already voiced out the residents’ concern over the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) at the state assembly sitting in 2008.
“At that time, Fuziah did not state her stand but now she is claiming to be championing the issue. This shows that she is only thinking of political mileage first and not the safety of the people,” he told reporters at Wisma MCA, here, today.
Also present were Pang and Chang Hong Seong (Teruntum assemblyman).
Ti said Fuziah’s statement in FMT that the Lynas issue was a scary dream for MCA was not only laughable but a ploy by her to escape public scrutiny of her absence from Parliament last week.
“She should have been present in parliament and debate on the PSC report on the Lynas (rare earth processing) plant if she disagreed with the report tabled, instead of going overseas purportedly to learn about election strategies.
“She has been acting as though she is most well-versed about the Lynas issue that she has taken the people to the streets to protest. But she was not around when the PSC report was tabled in parliament. Is this fair for those people who have supported her?” he said.
Meanwhile, Pang said Fuziah only dared to attack him and Chang through the blog but did not do anything in the interest of the people.
“As an MP, she should have formed a special action committee to deal with the Lynas issue from the beginning.
“If she’s only interested in being a politician to take people to the streets, then better don’t be an MP….resign and be the president of a group which likes to participate in street demonstrations,” he said.–Bernama
