59 participants attend Sports Science course

KUCHING: Fifty-nine participants from schools, Institute of Teacher Education Batu Lintang Campus and the Institute of Teacher Education Tun Abdul Razak Campus attended a Sports Science Level One Course here recently.

Institute of Teacher Education Tun Abdul Razak Campus director Hamsiah Abdullah Masni, who opened the course, said the event was in accordance with the institute’s niche as a sports institute to produce quality sports teachers and coaches.

She also conveyed her appreciation to the National Sports Council of Malaysia (MSN) and the Education Department of Sarawak for their support and approval for the course to be successfully carried out.

Course coordinator Dr Chin Ngien Siong said the course was aimed at introducing Sports Science to the coaches and teachers to develop and improve the athletes’ performance.

The participants learned the skills and knowledge of applying Sports Science in their teaching and training.

The four-day course comprised lectures, practical sessions, course work, assignment and an examination.

It was organised together with MSN.

The panel instructors appointed by the MSN for the course were R Vivekanandan K Ramiah, Dr Chin and Dana Raja Narayanasamy.
