SIBU: For the second consecutive year, The Borneo Post will organise the annual Borneo Post (BP) Run 2012 at Sibu Town Square on Aug 25.

Its chief operating officer, Temenggong Vincent Lau, said they were looking at some 1,000 runners from throughout the state to join the fun.

“We call on all runners to come and join us for the fun. The more the merrier,” he told a press conference yesterday morning.

With him were Sibu Marathon Sports Club chairman Tang Kah Seng, See Hua branch manager Kueh Ngan Seng and See Hua marketing executive Jamie Kong.

The event is organised as an activity to mark KTS Group of Companies 50th anniversary celebration.

Lau said it was also aimed at encouraging the people to take part in healthy activities as doing exercise and playing games were ingredients of a healthy lifestyle.

“Besides playing our role in disseminating news, we also feel that it is our social corporate responsibility to contribute back to the society and lend our support in organising events that would benefit the people.

“And through the BP run, we believe it will bring the people closer, fostering a harmonious relationship among the people of various races.”

Lau believed the runners who had taken part in the previous run were looking forward to the event.

“We will not fail them and in order to live up to their expectations, we have decided to make the event an annual affair,” he added.

Lau was also appreciative to Tang for his cooperation and willingness to assist in organising the event.

“As chairman of SMSC, he has years of experience in organising runs, and we trust that he will be able to organise the event smoothly.”

Lau also expressed his gratitude to the two main sponsors, Yeo’s, for being the official drinks and Gree, for sponsoring all the prizes and also Sibu Municipal Council for supporting the meaningful event .

Lau said it was the overwhelming response to the 2011 BP run, that spurred KTS on to make the run an annual affair.

“Last year, we had runners from Kuching, Miri, Mukah, Sarikei and so forth and this year, we hope to draw runners from other areas too.”
