Kenyan sprinters dominate Ipoh International Run

IPOH: Kenyan sprinters, Lilian Kennedy Kiproo and compatriot Eunice Nyawira Muchiri won the Men’s and Women’s Open categories in the Ipoh International Run 2012 held yesterday.

Lilian completed the with a personal best time of One hour 16 seconds while Enuice completed the race in 1’08:32s seconds and took home RM5,000 cash, a certificate and a trophy.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur runner R. Venugopal emerged as the champion in the men’s 10km Open category and received RM3,000 cash, a certificate and a medal.

More than 17,000 local and foreign runners, the highest recorded since 1985, joined the annual race which featured 12 categories, comprising Men’s and Women’s Open, Junior, Veteran and a school students and a category called ‘Fun Run’ involving a 5km run that was open to all ages.

The run offered RM96,750 cash in total prize money. — Bernama
