BINTULU: Tennis players from the Bintulu Division Lawn Tennis Association (BDLTA) had a fruitful outing at the recent Miri Junior Tennis Tournament Invitational.
BDLTA head coach Liong Woei Hua said their players had accomplished much in the tournament. Junior tennis players from the Philippines, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Kuching, Bintulu and host Miri took part in the tournament.
“10-year-old Jimmy Liong Kai Long emerged champion in the under-10 & 14 boy’s singles category. Meanwhile 13-year-old Linda Liong Tng Ting grabbed third place in the girl’s under-18 category,” revealed Liong.
“BDLTA is on track to produce state and Sukma tennis players in the coming years. Bintulu now have two junior development programmes at the KKB Tennis Academy and BDA Tennis Academy, which are held every weekend. We hope parents here will send their children to participate in the tennis development programme,” added Liong.
