YOUR NEXT PLACE OF STUDY: Swinburne Sarawak is equipped with technologically advanced facilities for teaching, learning and recreation.

KUCHING: SPM and STPM school-leavers who have yet to enrol for tertiary education will have the chance to do so at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ Info Day from 10am to 5pm this Saturday (July 7).

Classes for the university’s foundation, diploma and degree programmes start on September 3, which is the last intake for the year.

A range of programmes in engineering, commerce or business, science, computing and design from foundation to postgraduate levels are available.

The programmes are identical to those of its home campus in Melbourne, from which qualifications are also awarded.

The Sarawak campus is known for its quality education. It is one of only eight universities awarded self-accrediting status by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and rated Tier: 5 Excellent status category in the 2009 MQA Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (Setara ’09).

On Info Day, students and their parents will be able to consult academics from the university’s three schools – Language and Foundation; Engineering, Computing and Science; and Business and Design – on programmes, entry requirements, career prospects, programme application and the like.

Students who meet the entry requirements of their chosen programme will be offered a place at Swinburne Sarawak on the day.

They are advised to bring along their SPM, STPM or equivalent results as well as identity card when making an application, and fees will be waived on that day.

Those undecided on the choice of programmes may take a quick aptitude test. This helps to determine their areas of interest.

The result of the test will enable the counsellors to advise them on a range of suitable programmes.

A preview of the university’s two postgraduate programs, the MBA (International) and Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA (TESOL), will be held from 2pm to 4pm.

A Yayasan Sarawak booth set up on that day will be providing information on study loans and scholarships, while campus tours will take visitors through the university’s range of facilities.
