Limbang Police team triumph in futsal championship

LIMBANG: The futsal team of the Limbang Police District Headquarters proved that they as good in uniform and in a football jerseys by bagging the Sarawak Police Commissioner Futsal Cup held in Kuching recently.

The team won all the seven matches without conceding a goal in the competition featuring 32 teams, edging out Pulapol 1-0 in the final to bring the coveted trophy back to Limbang.

The Sarawak Brigade team was third.

The competition featured 25 police teams in Sarawak, seven invitational teams and four women teams.

Team manager, ASP Roslan Leman said it was sweet moment for the team and Limbang Police to excel at the highest futsal level in the state. His sentiment was shared by Limbang OCPD, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai, Narcotics Unit head ASP Anuar Md Ghazali and Security and Public Order head, Inspector Khairol Ridzuan Ahmad.

The team was formed five years ago and had proved that it continued to be just as lethal despite several new players in the squad.

Roslan said the intensive training for two weeks paid-off as the team took home the Challenge Trophy, Champions Trophy and the honour as defending futsal champion of Sarawak Police Contingent.

“We will work hard to defend the Challenge Trophy in the coming season, and training would continue for the players to have the best preparation for future competitions,” he added.
