SIBU: A 31-year-old man was jailed and fined on being convicted of three criminal charges in a magistrates’ court here yesterday.
For the first charge, Mohd Adha Sa’adi was fined RM1,000 or a month’s jail for stealing items worth RM21.70 from a supermarket in Sanyan Road, an offence listed under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
For the second charge, he was sentenced to two months’ jail for causing hurt to a security guard, an offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
For the third charge, he was fined RM500 or a month’s jail for breaking a glass wall of the security guard’s office, an offence under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
All the offences were committed at about 7pm on Jan 26, 2009.
In an unrelated case, three persons were each sentenced to a week’s jail, in addition to a RM1,000 fine, in default a week’s jail for voluntarily causing hurt to another.
The three accused, aged 35 to 45, were charged with assaulting a person surnamed Yek in front of a karaoke lounge in Sibu Jaya at about 2.15am on Jan 25.
Yek sustained facial injuries from the assault.
