CLEAR THEM UP: Lai points to the unkempt trees and vegetation near Sinarland Arcade that need trimming.

MIRI: Miri City Council will make a study on traffic flow at Boulevard and Pelita commercial centres in an effort to ease congestion.

Its mayor Lawrence Lai said this would be done as they had received complaints from many motorists about the notorious traffic flow and road condition.

“The traffic flow in both commercial areas is a bit confusing, which causes traffic congestion particularly during peak hours and festive occasions,” said Lai.

Among the possible causes of the congestion were poorly designed road signs and road alignments.

“The council’s engineering section will study the traffic flow and make some changes if necessary, including road signs and road alignment,” he said.

Apart of that, the city council would resurface some sections of the roads in both commercial centres, especially the section linking Miri-Pujut Road to Boulevard Commercial Centre and the junction leading to a driving school.

On another subject, Lai said the council would clear all the rubbish and unkempt trees and vegetation near Sinarland Arcade at Boulevard Commercial Centre and behind Sarawak United People’s Party headquarters here.

“We will also clear blocked drains at Boulevard Commercial Centre and replant trees to replace those knocked down by vehicles during accidents,” he added.
