Filipina with local woman’s MyKad jailed

KOTA KINABALU: A Filipina was jailed for six months by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for possessing a MyKad belonging to a local woman.

Norsema Rhadsmi, 21, pleaded guilty before magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus to the charge levelled against her under Section 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990,which carries a maximum jail of three years, or a fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000, upon conviction.

She was caught having in her possession an identity card bearing the numbers 920404-12-5216 belonging to one Asmah Kullang, at the departure hall of Terminal Two of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 3.50pm on June 15.

Norsema was also ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for further action after serving her jail sentence.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Azaman Hamat prosecuted.
