Adilton Simion and Cindy Tong shine in SMK TAR sports meet

KUCHING: Adilton Simion and Cindy Tong bagged the overall best male and female athlete awards at SMK Tun Abdul Razak (TAR) sports meet which ended yesterday at Padawan Mini Stadium.

Adilton deserves the award after winning gold in the discus throw with a new meet record distance of 7.32m. The 15-year-old athlete also won the triple jump with a distance of 3.27m and in the high jump with a height of 2.2 m.

Meanwhile, Cindy won gold in the 3,000 m event with a new record time of 5 minute 25 seconds while in the 1,500 m race she clocked 4 minute 1 second and 2 minute 25 seconds in the 800 m race.

The Kampung Simpok girl who inspired to be a sports science teacher trains at least one and a half hour daily and is aiming to represent Sarawak in national and international events in the near future.

The other outstanding athletes at the meet were Ambrose Michael (Form Four), Jeppy Bawal (Form Lower Six) and Chris Cartner (Form One) while the girls’ category, the outstanding athletes were Ivy Dayang (Form Five) and Bong Kui Lei (Form One)

School principal Dr. Linton @ Jerah Britten officiated at the prize-giving ceremony and was accompanied by Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairman, Muhie Kassim.
