Grass cutter charged with inciting gross indecency claims trial

KUCHING: A grass cutter charged with inciting a six-year-old boy to perform acts of gross indecency last month claimed trial in a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday.

Abdul Razak Mohamed Yasin, 36, from Kampung Panglima Seman Hilir was charged
with the offence allegedly committed at about 4pm at a house in his village on June 27 this year.

He was charged under Section 377E of the Penal Code which carries a maximum of five years’ imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction.

Abdul Razak appeared before Magistrate Maris Agan who released him on a RM3,000 cash bail with one surety pending further mention of the case on July 27 while the trial will be on Aug 29 and 30 this year.

In the same court room, an 18-year-old youth pleaded not guilty to two charges of molestation and insulting the modesty of a young woman.

He allegedly molested a 22-year-old young woman at a staircase at a block in MJC Batu Kawa at about 4am on July 3 this year.

The youth was also accused of showing his private part to the woman at the same place and time.

Molestation comes under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ jail or with fine or any of the two punishments, upon conviction.

Insulting the modesty comes under Section 509 of the Penal Code which provides a maximum five years in jail or with fine or any of the two punishments.

Maris ordered the youth to be released on a RM3, 000 cash bail in one surety pending trial on Aug 27 and 28 this year.
