VICTIM OF CROC ATTACK: Remains of Drahman transported to Betong Hospital after retrieval by the SAR team.
PUSA: Crocodile menace, Bujang Saribas has claimed the life of Drahman Chali, 55, whose remains were washed up from the Engkaras River.
His body was found opposite Kampung Medang in Pusa around 7.30am yesterday, 30-35minutes by speedboat ride from where he was attacked at Sungai Saribas while washing his hands in the river last Thursday morning.
“The remains looked like something from a horror movie with his right hand severed and bite marks on his partially severed left leg. His chest and stomach had collapsed, partially devoured by the monster croc,” said a member of the search-and-rescue (SAR) team.
According to the team, they received a telephone call from Kampung Medang villager that a body was found floating in Sungai Engkaras.
The team comprising police, Bomba, Civil Defence Department and People’s Voluntary Corps rushed to the scene to retrieve the body.
The remains were brought to Kampung Seberang Pusa jetty for ease of transport to Betong Hospital.
His next-of-kin called the hospital to identify the body for the postmortem.
Drahman’s friend, Mohd Nor Bujang who helped retrieve the body said: “I had been waiting for two days for his body to be found. I was told of the missing body parts.
“I was shocked about how he died as we had been together for several decades.”
