KUANTAN: The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has urged organisers of the 15th Malaysia Games (Sukma) which the state is hosting, to immediately address weaknesses in the games.

“Being the host, it is pertinent to avoid tarnishing the state’s image,” he told reporters after a Zakat Al Barokah Felda function here today, when asked to comment on food poisoning suffered by a Johor hockey player last Saturday.

Tengku Abdullah also acknowledged that the athlete had consumed food from outside the games village.

Meanwhile, he was disappointed that the diving board at the swimming pool did not adhere to specifications.

“We do not know who to blame. The contractor is only entrusted with its construction, so the organiser and technical division must take responsiblility and resolve the issue,” he said.– BERNAMA
