Perodua targets 18 to 25 pct Sarawak vehicle sales growth

SIBU: Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) targets 18 to 25 per cent growth in sales of its vehicles in the next few years in Sarawak, helped by improved purchasing power and infrastrucutre.

Managing director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said the company sold 7,363 vehicles in Sarawak in the first six months of this year, comprising 3,2802 Viva, 2,487 Myvi and 1,496 Alza units, up three to four per cent over the same period last year.

Speaking to reporters after launching a new Perodua 3S centre at Perodua dealership Ngu Chung Beng & Sons Corporation Sdn Bhd here, he said Sabah and Sarawak are an important market for Perodua, accounting for sales of 12,800 vehicles in the first six months of this year.

Perodua sold 11,651 vehicles in the two states last year, compared with 13,199 in 2010,he said.

“Sales of accessories and spare sparts rose to RM7,999,502 in the first six months of 2012 from RM6,827,971 in the same period last year,” he said. — Bernama
