INTO FINAL: Ambrose (second right) finishes second in the 100m semi-final at Stadium Darul Makmur in Pahang.

SARAWAK sprint king Ambrose Jilom wants to end his final Sukma outing on a golden note as he takes to the track for the men’s 100m final tonight.

The sprinter from Miri made the cut for the final after clocking 10.89s in the semi-finals at Stadium Darul Makmur late yesterday afternoon.

He finished second behind Terengganu’s Harith Ammar who clocked 10.86s while third was Eddie Edward from Sabah who timed 10.93s.

Ambrose is optimistic that he would be able to run faster in the final and win his first Sukma gold.

“This is the third and final Sukma outing for me and that’s why I am more determined to contribute a gold medal for the Sarawak contingent,” he said when met at the stadium.

“I am now in peak form and I only need to be fully focused in the final,” said the national sprinter.

Ambrose has a personal best time of 10.6s which was recorded at Sea Games in Palembang, Indonesia last year.

“I am aware that it would be very competitive in the final especially Harith and Eddie who competed with me at Sukma XIII in Melaka,” he said.

Meanwhile, Loo Li Jun added another medal to the state contingent’s medals haul when she threw the discus to 36.08m in the women’s discus to settle for the bronze.

The gold and silver were won by Choo Kang Ni and Nur Fathin Ahmad Zabri both from Johor with a distance of 39.98m and 38.51m respectively.
