KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has advised the public to be wary of any scheme via e-mails or flyers that claims to have links with the Accountant-General’s Department in providing services to process unclaimed monies for a certain rate or charge.
In a statement yesterday, the MOF said the department has never appointed any individual or company as agents that provided such processing services, and has never imposed any fee or service charge to process unclaimed monies.
“Information on unclaimed monies submitted to the department will be gazetted every year, where copies could be accessed by the public at the National Library.
“These unclaimed monies that have been submitted to the registrar can be claimed at any time by any party who has the rights to the fund,” it said.
The MOF said all claim settlement applications on unclaimed monies must be forwarded to the department or any if its branches. — Bernama
