Tailor shop owner fined for not registering business with Socso

KUALA LUMPUR: A tailor shop owner was fined RM1,000 or one month jail in default by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday after he pleaded guilty to not registering his business with the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

Magistrate Nurdiana Mohd Nazari further ordered Yong Chee Leong, 43, to register his company, Romance Fashion, with Socso within the next 14 days.

Yong, who had a worker at the time, was charged under the Employees Social Security Act for the offence at his shop in Taman Muda, Cheras here on Jan 31, 2010.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Hanafi Che Abdullah prosecuted and Yong was unrepresented. — Bernama
