Bodybuilders face tough challenge at Mr Malaysia

KUCHING: Sarawak bodybuilders will face a tough battle at Mr Malaysia Bodybuilding Championship to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah this weekend.

Sarawak Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) president, Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the state’s team is facing stiff competition from their West Malaysian counterparts.

However, he is confident that they will bring home some medals. “The weight categories contested are within the most competitive categories,” Wee said at the handing over of state colours by state Youth and Sports Department deputy director Razali Mohamad held here recently.

The competing musclemen are Arini Marzuki for the Fly Weight category (55.1kg-60kg), Malvern Abdullah and Densi Runya for the Bantam Weight category (60.1kg-65kg), Sharafuddin Samuri and Awg Mohd Azizul Ghani for the Welter Weight category (70.1kg-75kg), Hairol Tarmizi for Light Heavy (85.1kg-90kg), Jeremiah Rukong for Light Middle (75.1kg-80kg) and Fong Hui Kong for the Light Weight category (65.1kg-70kg).

Meanwhile, Wee disclosed the association is eyeing to organise more bodybuilding events in Sarawak with the aim to attract more youths to participate in this sport.
