State team for national cricket trophy finale

KUCHING: Sarawak’s men cricket team left for Kuala Lumpur yesterday to participate in the finals of the Malaysia Cricket Association (MCA) challenge trophy t Kinrara Cricket Oval, Puchong this weekend.

The finals between Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan will be a two-day two inning format game and the winner of the Challenge Trophy will be promoted to the Elite Cup (Division 1) in 2013.

The statecteam is represented by Maxwell Ak Stephen Bala (Captain), Chew Pok Cheong (Vice Captain), Gordon Chung Pei Nan, Victor Graman Ak Renggian, Mohammad Syahmizan Bin Mahli, Awang Amirul Rashid B. Awang Sadam, Mohd Yusuf Bin Annuar, Rahmad Rejab B. Sulaiman, Said Muhammad Halimin Bin Hasbi, Azharuddin Bin Hamdan, Ali Hamza, Ashen Jayasinghe, Nasir Ali Khan and Edmund Henry.

The said that although the state team would be facing a stronger and an experienced Negeri Sembilan side they are determined to play all out.

“We will put up a good fight and play our best to the win and bring glory to Sarawak and I would like to thank Yung Wei Pong, Managing Director of YWP Corporation Sdn Bhd for sponsoring our team,” Sarawak Cricket Association (SCA) president, Awang Mahyan yesterday.
