PEKAN: Recovering from a shoulder injury just 10 days before competition may have weakened even the toughest weightlifter but Elisha Louis Tan Kim Ho must surely be an exception.
The weightlifter from Federal Territory not only won two gold medals at the ongoing Pahang Sukma, he also smashed the men’s Below 105kg category Snatch event record at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Convention Centre. Elisha Louis, 20, lifted 142kg to smash the Snatch record of 141kg held by Negeri Sembilan’s Rahimi Rahim at the Melaka Sukma in 2010.
The 20-year-old added the Clean & Jerk gold with a lift of 165kg to beat Asraf Hashim from Melaka who managed 135kg and Mohamad Nasir Roslan from Pahang who lifted 125kg.
“I am extremely happy with the result and my performance today because I had just recovered from injury 10 days ago. I had also failed to win a gold medal in Melaka,” he told reporters at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Convention Centre here yesterday.
“My next focus will be the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,” he said. — Bernama
