Brunei History Centre chief conferred ‘Dato Sri’ title

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Sarawak conferred a state award ‘Darjah Yang Amar Mulia Bintang Sarawak — Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS)(Honorary)’ on the Head of Brunei History Centre, Dato Seri Utama Dr Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri Baginda Urdana Begawan Khatib Dato Seri Paduka Awang Omar yesterday.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud presented the award, which carries the title ‘Dato Sri’ to Mohd Jamil here. Taib was in the sultanate in conjunction with the Sultan of Brunei’s 66th birthday celebration.

The award presentation ceremony was witnessed by State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Awang Asfia Awang Nassar, Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Malaysia High Commissioner to Brunei Dato Abdullah Sani Omar and Deputy State Secretary Datuk Misnu Taha.

Also present were Taib’s wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, Awang Tengah’s wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Haji Awang Daud and several Brunei dignitaries.
