Of course rebuilding the bridge is great for heritage and tourism. Jobs will be created for the people to help to rebuilt the bridge, but don’t leave it too long!

I agree to the idea to rebuild the Satok suspension bridge. Its not for me or for you to see but for our younger generation to admire our local cultures, racial harmonies and development progress over the passed years. Be positive and open minded thinking.

If it was not to reconnect the collapsed bridge, it’s no point replacing it with a new bridge. The replacing bridge will have no significance for Kuchingites to look past and has no heritage value. Don’t be silly. Don’t build a new one. Just restore the old bridge to its previous glory in the past that linked Satok and Petrajaya for 62 years. After all we have the new adjacent bridge – Tun Haji Abdul Rahman Bridge.

Rebuilding it does not have the same impact anymore. Yes, it may look similar but it is not the same. Period! Might as well build a totally newly designed bridge that signifies the local cultures, the racial harmony and the progresses over the years. Part of the old bridge of about 50 to 100 ft may be erected in the museum ground for all to get back that nostalgic feelings. But then again, think of the costs involved. Hey, be real, we are not in the best of health when it comes to the economy for the state. We have to set our priority right. Jobs, jobs jobs! It may be possible in the future but definitely not now. However, if the successful companies in Sarawak are willing to share their successes with fellow Sarawakians and contributed towards the building costs, why not!

I still have fond memories of fishing on the bridge, expect for a case where some malay kids try to rob me and my friends of our bicycles. It definitely should be rebuild.

i think it is wise to utilize that big amount of fund for other purposes which is more benefited to the locals instead of that suspension bridge. Kuching City is getting congested from day to day and that should be focus to improve. That suspension bridge won’t help. Go forward and not backward please.

On the negative side of view it invites spot for frustrated individual for the last jump.
