Drug trafficker and repeat offender remanded

Bandar Seri Begawan – The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on June 13 this year arrested a local drug trafficker, 52-year-old Mohd Taip bin Hj Mohidin, who has been identified as being actively involved in trafficking and selling Syabu in the major part of the Brunei-Muara area, Borneo Bulletin reported.

This offender has 35 criminal records to his name, with eight involving drug offences, while four instances of jail sentences have also not made him repent.

He is currently jailed for 12 months from June 28, 2012, at the Maraburong Prison in Tutong, following an “Arrest Order” issued by the Minister of Home Affairs under Section 2 (a), Criminal Laws Act, Chapter 150 on the aforementioned date.

This remand marked the third such case in which NCB has successfully taken action on a cunning drug trafficker under the Act.

The bureau also called on members of the public to disseminate any information related to trafficking and activities involving the misuse of controlled drugs by calling its hotline at 8777444.
