Temburong – His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to receive several subjects during the get-together ceremony with citizens and residents in the Temburong District yesterday, Borneo Bulletin reported.

Among them were ‘Kayu Manambus’ and ‘Sakang Seribu’ presented by Mohd Hassan bin Abdullah of Kg Rataie National Housing Scheme.

Meanwhile, a music CD containing the performance concept, ‘Darussalam Bilhuda’ or “peaceful and safe nation under the guidance of Allah the Almighty” was presented by the special committee for the field performances for the Temburong District get-together.

The creator and composer of the music CD, Siti Hawa Hj Kamis told the Bulletin that the CD contained three of her own songs, in which local instruments such as ‘Gambus’, ‘Umpong’ and ‘Gendang’ were used during the recording.

She went on to say that the “Darussalam Bilhuda” is a Nasyid song influenced by this year’s celebration theme, while “Doa Untuk Raja” and “Laila Masyur” are contemporary songs dedicated especially to His Majesty on his 66th birthday.

Siti Hawa is currently the headmistress of the Temburong Arabic Preparatory School. The songs, she said, has the influence of “Islamic values”, which the ruler has always stressed upon to his subjects.
