KUALA LUMPUR: Dutch national Nayati Shamelin Moodliar’s kidnapping case has been fixed for an August 27 remention by the Magistrates Court yesterday.

Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin set the date after Deputy Public Prosecutor S Malini Anne informed the court that the prosecution had yet to receive the chemist report and closed circuit television recording at the scene of the crime.

Lee Phak Seng, 19, Chang Tat Siong and Foong Khar Fai, both 24, and another suspect still at large, were charged with the kidnapping of Nayati, 12, at Jalan Kiara 1, Mont Kiara here at 7.30 am on April 27.

Lee and Foong, who are self-employed and Chang, a salesman, face the death penalty or life imprisonment with caning, upon conviction under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961.

The three suspects allegedly kidnapped Nayati while he was walking into the Mont Kiara International School and demanded a RM300,000 ransom from the boy’s parents. Chang and Foong were represented by Rejinder Singh while Chong Joo Tian appeared for Lee.

Nayati was found at the Sungai Buloh rest area along the North-South Highway at 7.55am on May 3. — Bernama
