BAU: Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian yesterday shot down the possibility of BN fielding two candidates in Mas Gading during the 13th general election.

Speaking at a Jiwa Murni programme organised by the Malaysian Ex-Servicemen Association (PBTM) Tasik Biru in Kampung Bobak, Singai, Nansian, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) Club spokesman, said BN would definitely put up only one candidate per constituency.

“Some have asked me … ‘YB, what if BN puts up two candidates in Mas Gading?’ My answer is simple. It is not possible to have two BN candidates contesting for the same seat.

“There must be only one candidate, and that candidate is a winnable one who can work and serve the people,” he said.

Nansian, who is also Assistant Minister of Community Services, added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had always said since day one that BN must choose a winnable candidate so that they could continue to serve the people.

“The prime minister has done his homework, and he knows which candidates are winnable at the grassroots level.”

Nansian, who was accompanied by Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe at the event, also expressed his support for all BN candidates in the coming polls, even if they were not the incumbents.

“I myself as Tasik Biru assemblyman and Datuk Dr Tiki as Mas Gading MP will continue to work for the people as hard as we can as long as the people still want us to work.”

Touching on the programme, Nansian urged members of PBTM to continue applying their military knowledge and skills to help and protect the community.

“As former members of the military who have contributed tremendously in the nation’s stability and progress, I would like to invite PBTM members to continue to extend their services to their own community.”

He also advised PBTM Tasik Biru to invite other associations and the community in general to join their activities.

Both Nansian and Dr Tiki announced a RM5,000 allocation each for the PBTM Tasik Biru fund at the gathering.

Also present were Armed Forces Veterans Affairs Department Sarawak director Lt Col Monday Juhid, PBTM Sarawak advisor Major (r) Peter Runin, PBTM Tasik Biru chief Jossem Daweg and Bobak headman Willon Kiben.
