Two-year-old girl’s finger cut off in freak accident

KUCHING: A finger of a two-year-old girl was cut off accidentally with a kitchen knife by her three-year-old brother in a freak accident inside their home around 10pm at Jalan Rubber here Saturday.

The finger of the toddler was attached at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here after their mother brought the girl to the hospital.

According to the mother, she bought the knife at a market on Saturday morning but had left it in the bedroom. The children were inside the bedroom when their mother went to kitchen to wash some fruits.

The boy thought the knife was a toy and played it with his sister.

Shortly after, the mother heard the daughter’s scream and she rushed to the bedroom.

It was not clear which finger of the girl was cut and later attached by doctors at SGH.
