Dialogue resolves resettlement issues

KOTA KINABALU: A dialogue was held at the head office of the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) here last Friday to thrash out all outstanding matters related to issues raised by residents at the state government sponsored V12 Resettlement Scheme at Bukit Payung in Telipok.

The dialogue session was conducted by Datuk Hajjah Jainab Datuk S P Hj Ahmad Ayid, in her capacity as chairperson of KKIP Resettlement Scheme Coordinating Committee.

Jainab updated the village representatives the latest actions taken by relevant government departments and government-linked agencies such as Water Board, Land and Survey, PWD, SESB Sdn Bhd, KKIP Power Sdn Bhd and K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd.

She explained that some of the remedial actions were on-going and in some cases they needed time and necessary government funds before implementation could be effected.

Among the matters raised and discussed included road conditions, water supply, drainage, street lights and the system for payment of electricity supply.

Representatives from relevant government departments and agencies present gave explanation and updated information to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) officials on these topics.

Speaking at the close of the dialogue,Jainab advised the JKKK officials to be in close liaison with members of her committee in the event of any problems that might arise in the future, assuring them that full attention would be given.

She also urged the JKKK officials and representatives of the respective constituencies to meet regularly with executives of K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd.

Jainab was pleased that the dialogue session was very cordially conducted and all issues raised in the dialogues would be followed through by K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd, the relevant government departments and agencies.

She pointed out that the last time members of the KKIP Resettlement Scheme Coordinating Committee conducted such a meeting with JKKK officials was only two months ago, on May 23 this year, during which a full briefing was also given.

Among those present at the dialogue were officials of JKKKs, including Tasripan Hj Jumat, chairman of JKKK Kg Salut; Harry Dalampir, chairman of JKKK Kg Sukoli; and Robert Silati, chairman of JKKK Kg Norowot.

Among the government officials present to assist in answering questions raised by the village officials were Radziah Abd Rahman and Albert Chia from KKIP Power Sdn Bhd; Alexander Yong and Sofri Md Juni from Land and Survey Department and Lenior Lee from Pembinaan Cemara Asia Sdn Bhd.

KKIP Sdn Bhd was represented by its chief executive officer, Dr Hajjah Tarsiah T Z Taman; her deputy Ir Melvin Disimond; Chua Teng Be, head of KKIP’s Land Unit, and Rozaidi Abd Rahman, public relations senior executive.
