KUALA LUMPUR: A former construction company director pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here yesterday to two counts of misappropriating company cheques amounting to RM710,000, four years ago.
Hoong Boon Chong, 38, was charged with cashing Public Bank Berhad cheques from Es Designer & Construction (M) Sdn Bhd for the sums of RM680,000 and RM30,000 at Jalan Kuchai Lama in Feb 2007.
Hoong is liable to a maximum of five years’ imprisonment with caning and possible fine, upon conviction under the Penal Code.
Judge S M Komathy Suppiah set bail at RM30,000 with one surety and impounded the accused’s passport.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurmardiana Mamat prosecuted and P Jeyakumar appeared for Hoong. Remention was fixed for Aug 29. — Bernama
