Youth jailed 3 weeks for trespassing

MIRI: An 18-year-old youth was yesterday sentenced to three weeks’ imprisonment for trespassing.

The magistrate’s court granted the order effective from the date of arrest. Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles fixed Aug 30 for hearing the case involving two accused who pleaded guilty to the offence.

Both accused were released on RM1,500 bail each with their parents as sureties, pending mention of the case.

Mohammad Sharul Sa’at and the two juveniles from Tudan, aged 17 years, were charged under Section 453 of the Penal Code read together under Section 34 of the same code.

Based on the offence, the accused and the two juveniles are liable to a jail sentence of up to three years and fine or whipping upon conviction.

In the first case, the trio had attempted to trespass the Chiong Wei Ung area with an intention
to break into the house.

They committed the offence at 3pm on July 20 at Lot 7083, Lorong 3 Jalan Permaisuri Desa Indah in Permyjaya.

In mitigation, they pleaded for leniency, saying this was their first offence.
