SANDAKAN: The peace and harmony in Malaysia is largely attributed to the understanding nature of Malaysians, said Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman.

Speaking to reporters at the Ramadhan contribution ceremony of Umno Libaran at Kenangan Manis Mosque, Musa said compared to neighbouring countries, Malaysia is the most peaceful.

“We have to realize that our neighbouring countries are not like Malaysia. Some of them are at war with themselves or with their neighbours.

“Malaysia, however, has an understanding culture. This country is made up of many different races and religions but we live harmoniously with each other,” said Musa.

He added that strengthening the bond between Malaysians was imperative towards maintaining peace.

Speaking on BN’s People First, Performance Now concept, Musa said: “We’re always making sure the needs and requests of the people are met. That’s what we strive for the people.”

He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is a prime example of a leader who is concerned for his people, citing policies such as BR1M, abolishing school fees and 1Malaysia stores as instances of Najib’s sincerity to serve the people.

Apart from Kenangan Manis Mosque, Pekan Muhibbah Mosque and Batu Putih Mosque also received a visit from the Chief Minister and Ramadhan contributions from Umno Libaran.
