Terengganu athletes receive incentive

KUALA TERENGGANU: A total RM1.6 million was provided by the Terengganu government as incentives to the athletes and teams on their success at the 15th Sukma in Kuantan, Pahang, this year.

When making the announcement, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said regarded the allocation as the biggest the state government had ever given to the Sukma contingent, to date.

“We raise the incentives from year to year to encourage the athletes,” he said at a ceremony on Friday.

Archer Nurul Iryani Muda received the highest incentive totalling RM25,000 for winning four gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

A total 184 athletes received their incentives during the ceremony.

This was followed by weightlifter, and also, this time, Sukma athlete, Abdul Mubin Rahim who received RM23,000 and Zahraa Anuawar (cycling), RM20,000.
