TUARAN: Elect the right Sabahan to lead the people of Sabah to support the idea of Sabah for Sabahans, said opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking to more than 3,000 Pakatan Rakyat (PR) supporters at Dalit here yesterday, Anwar said Sabah for Sabahans was not the real problem but the difficulty of having transparent governance is the most important issue.

“Many people say Sabah for Sabahans, and yes, who is campaigning for Sabah if not Sabahans? Who is going to decide the best policy for Sabah if not Sabahans?

“That is why we must remember to elect the right Sabahan for the people of Sabah,” he said at the launching of Sabah Reform Front yesterday.

Sabah Reform Front is a movement led by Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing who announced his resignation from United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko), a Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) component party at the same event yesterday.

Anwar said Bumburing’s decision to leave Barisan Nasional was not a hasty action because he (Bumburing) had tried many ways in parliament to ask the BN government to solve problems in Sabah such as the issue of illegal immigrants but was denied.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader also repeated his promise to reduce fuel price, increase Sabah oil royalty to 20 per cent and give free education once Pakatan Rakyat becomes the federal government.

“I am talking as a former finance minister. We can reduce the fuel price, increase Sabah oil royalty and give free education as long as we have good governance.

“Speaking of policies in Sabah, we are giving the decision to the people of Sabah because Sabahans know better about Sabah. That is why it is important for you to elect the right Sabahan for the people of Sabah,” he said.
