Bonus: Same quantum for state civil servants

KUCHING: State civil servants will receive the same amount of Hari Raya bonus as their federal counterparts, announced State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Ghani yesterday.

He said they would be paid half-month salary or a minimum of RM500 while pensioners will receive a special payment of RM500 each.

The payout is scheduled to be made on Aug 9, the same day as the payment for federal officers, and would benefit some 200,000 state civil servants.

“Payment will be made on Aug 9. It is exactly the same deal as the federal officers’. Minimum payout will be RM500,” Morshidi told reporters when met after the State and Federal Secretary’s ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa’ with civil servants at Pullman Hotel here.

It was attended by Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Yahaya Basimin and about 300 guests.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced on July 25 that civil servants would be paid a hal f-month bonus with a minimum of RM500 on Aug 9 in a Hari Raya gesture.

Sharing the joy of some 1.27 million civil servants are 657,000 pensioners who will receive their RM500 special payment.
