KOTA KINABALU: The State civil servants will also receive a half-month bonus with a minimum payment of RM500 in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman announced yesterday.
Musa, who is also the Finance Minister, said the bonus would be paid before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri which falls later this month.
He said some 19,151 state civil servants would receive the bonus and the payout will cost the State government about RM18.178 million.
He said bonus payment reflected the State government’s acknowledgment of the civil servants’ contributions to the state administration and the public sector.
“The State Government also appreciates the role of the civil service in the planning and implementation of state development programmes,” Musa said in a statement.
Musa hoped that the Raya bonus would assist the civil servants in their preparations for the forthcoming Aidilfitri, adding that it would especially ease the burden on those in the lower-income group.
Recently, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had announced a half-month bonus with a minimum payment of RM500 to federal civil servants and pensioners.
