Raise UMS image, staff urged

LABUAN: The former director of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMS-KAL), Prof Dr Shariff Abdul Kadir Omang urged all the campus staff to be committed to raising the image of UMS to international level.

The newly appointed UMS deputy vice-chancellor for academic and international said it was time for the academic and non-academic staff to help UMS management known internationally.

Dr Shariff who was here recently said in line with UMS vice-chancellor Prof Dr Harun Abdullah’s vision to make UMS an outstanding tertiary institution in global arena, the staff also had same role and responsibility to realise the vision.

“A promotion is being done now in Sabah especially in the interior areas to attract more students to choose UMS as a learning centre to pursue their studies,” he said.

He said the UMS would continue to cooperate and sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various parties including with other universities to entice more students to study either at UMS-KAL or UMS Sandakan.

Dr Shariff said the effort would be extended internationally to bring more international students to study at UMS.
