SARIKEI: The 1Malaysia Clinic in Jakar Bazaar, about 12 kilometres from here, will ease congestion at the local polyclinic.

The clinic commences operation from today, and is the first such clinic to be set up in the district.

“Some 5,000 residents from Merudu, Sungai Paoh, Sebangkoi, Bayong and the surrounding areas are going to benefit from the services provided by the 1Malaysia Clinic which opens from 10am to 10pm daily,” said Ding Kuong Hiing, Sarikei MP, when he visited the clinic yesterday.

He also said the proximity of the clinic would certainly save patients’ time and transport expenses.  Local patients at 1Malaysia clinics will only be charged RM1 while foreigners have to pay RM15.

Ding was accompanied by state Health Department senior officers Haderi Tras and Abdulhan Mohamad, Sarikei Policlinic officer Dr Edie Tiong and councillor Teng Ung Woo.
