Man admits to criminal tresspassing, fined RM3,000

KUCHING: A magistrates’ court here yesterday fined an unemployed man RM3,000 in default three months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to committing criminal trespass.

He settled the fine.

Magistrate Syahrizat Ismail handed down the decision on Ling Yee Siaw, 47, who was originally charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking but was amended to Section 448 of the same code.

The fact of the case stated that Ling, together with four other persons still at large, trespassed into a house belonging to Ip Swee Kheng at Jalan Durian Burung at about 3.20pm on Feb 15.

Ip had lodged a police report claiming that his house had been broken into and among items found missing were a compressor of an air-conditioner, two antique wood with dragon motif, a chair, one CD player, a cassette player, induction cooker and a rice pot.

Following the report, the accused was arrested at MJC New Township in Batu Kawa at 3.25pm on May 11.
