Company director faces CBT trial

KOTA KINABALU: A director of a company will stand trial on Sept 2 –21 this year for a charge of criminal breach of trust three years ago.

Wong Tiong Hie, 60, who appeared before the deputy registrar of the High Court Hafizi Mohd Halim, was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to 14 years and whipping and a fine, upon conviction.

The charge stated that, the undefended accused as a share partner/director of the company which was entrusted a Toyota Land Cruiser car was alleged to have deliberately sold the car without the company’s resolution.

The alleged offence was committed at the Road Transport Department in Miri, Sarawak on Nov 30, 2010.

Wong who hails from Sarawak was released on a bail of RM30,000 deposited with two local sureties.

Hafizi who presided as a Sessions Court judge ordered Wong to report himself at Menggatal police station twice a month.

Deputy public prosecutor Chow Siang Kong informed the court that the prosecution will produce seven witnesses during the trial.
