KOTA KINABALU: The Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Business Council Of Malaysia is ready to offer the government a roll-on roll-off (Roro) ferry to ply the Labuan-Menumbok route.

Its chairman Roselan Johar Mohamed said the ferry can be deployed within 30 days of the offer, if the current problem related to the ferry tariff still persists.

He also said the new Roro ferry can complete the journey within 45 minutes and accommodate 12 big trucks and 350 passengers per voyage.

“I hope administrative matters concerning the flag dispensation can be worked out for this purpose,” he told Bernama here yesterday.

He said the Labuan-Menumbuk (on mainland Sabah) ferry service seemed to be an unending issue.

Roselan said whilst the Labuan-Menumbuk sector is not within the BIMP-EAGA, negative reporting on the ferry service, was affecting Malaysia.

“We have to do something about it. We cannot wait anymore,” he added. — Bernama
