STAR demands Rahman specify ‘wrong’ opposition theories

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Belud member of parliament Datuk Abdul Rahman is being challenged by State Reform Party (STAR) to specify one by one the supposedly wrong theories about the formation of Malaysia which the opposition has been telling to confuse the people.

STAR state deputy chairman Daniel John Jambun in a statement here expressed his irritation at Rahman’s statement which did not specify anything, an act he likened to accusing people of lying without saying what the alleged lie was.

“We have presented our argument on the issue in the clearest possible way,” Jambun said. “In the issue of becoming the 12th state, we have quoted no less than the Tunku himself who said specifically that ‘Sabah and Sarawak will not become the 12th and 13th states of Malaya’.

“Rahman should also realise that we all can see he is practising fear mongering by condemning the opposition for expressing their opinions, threatening that it will cause ‘social disharmony’. Is Rahman saying we in the opposition should just agree with everything the BN is saying for the sake of harmony?” he asked.

Jambun said BN leaders had become obsessed with calling the opposition liars who could only makes promises, and now being accused as promoting disharmony and social conflict.

“The BN has always been saying it wants to ‘turun padang’ to counter the opposition ‘lies’. But after so many years, when are they going to do it? What have the BN so-called cyber troopers done to fight us in blogs and portals except sending commentators to curse here and there?” Jambun demanded. “What lies have we said? Why not list them all and publish it in the newspapers so we can respond to them one by one? Don’t just keep crowing but never brave enough to state the facts.”
